About the Deanship

The Deanship of Scientific Research at the University of Jeddah was established in 1437 AH (1437 AH). It is responsible for overseeing and developing scientific research at the university, implementing general policies for scientific research, and developing its strategic plan. The Deanship also develops and implements scientific research programs, supports scientific research and innovations, and fosters local and international research partnerships by proposing research projects for researchers within the university in various disciplines, particularly high-quality scientific research that achieves international standing.

Agency Tasks
  • Proposing the university's scientific research and innovation policy, studying its priorities, developing the university's annual research plan, and preparing the necessary budget.
  • Proposing research programs, approving research projects, providing financial support for them, and following up on their implementation in accordance with the governing rules.
  • Monitoring the quality of the research system and developing the research and innovation process within the framework of the university's strategic plan, and proposing regulations, rules, and procedures governing it.
  • Providing intellectual protection for patents, creative research, and innovations for researchers within the university, and investing the results of their applied research to serve the community, thus contributing to supporting economic and social development programs.
  • Attracting innovative male and female students, developing their research capabilities, encouraging them to conduct innovative scientific research, and providing them with research tools and capabilities.
  • Establishing a research and innovation environment by coordinating work between the university's research centers and proposing ways to organize relations with various research centers outside the university, both local and foreign, and developing cooperation with them.
  • Harnessing research and innovation to serve industry and national priorities, developing programs for the transition from research and innovation to industry, and implementing and monitoring a plan for strategic industrial convergence with the university, both locally and internationally.
  • Investing in scientific research to generate ideas, localize knowledge, and leverage it. Conducting market research, identifying available opportunities, and establishing partnerships that enable the university to work on projects with economic returns. Marketing the university's innovative products and contributing to their development.
  • Transforming promising ideas into valuable outcomes, then entering the field of entrepreneurship and its incubators, so that scientific research can be transformed into economic output through the scientific research and innovation system.
